Rites of Passage- Girls to Women
Co-Sponsored by Grailville Retreat and Program Center
A Mother/Daughter Journey
August, 2010
Grailville
Loveland, Ohio

A retreat for girls and their adult mentors designed to support the transition from being girls to becoming women

"How might your life have been different if there had been a place for you?
A place for you to go...a place of women, to help you learn the ways of woman...a place where you were nurtured from an ancient flow sustaining you and steadying you as you sought to become yourself. A place of women to help you find and trust the ancient flow already there within yourself… waiting to be released...How might your life have been different?"

excerpt from Circle of Stones by Judith Duerck

Grailville Retreat and Program Center in Loveland OH and Nzuzu, a life coaching organization committed to building stronger circles of women around the world, are pleased to present a Rites of Passage weekend retreat August, 2009. Girls and their adult mentors (e.g., mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and/or friend) are invited to Grailville for a weekend of sharing, transformation and celebration! There is no age limit but girls must have started their menses to attend.

This retreat is designed to support the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual journey of each girl on the path to womanhood. Activities will include writing, art, ritual, conversation, meditation and play. Adult participants will be helped to find ways to use their own experiences as helpful tools in guiding the younger women toward the women they are to become.

The Rites of Passage Retreat will be co-facilitated by Pauletta Hansel and Quanita Munday.

Pauletta Hansel, Co-Director of Grailville, is a poet, teacher and arts administrator. She holds a BA in Human Services and a Masters in Education. Pauletta leads creative writing workshops and retreats for multiple populations, with a special emphasis on programs for women and girls.

She has a BA in Organizational Leadership and is completing a Masters degree in Organizational Management and Development.
